Narrowboat 70ft Cruiser Stern with Mooring

This is the sort of narrowboat for sale that that is going to command plenty of attention. A spacious boat on a great mooring in Hertford.

The mooring is in a convenient, secure and pleasant location in Hertford, a pretty old market
town, north of London, on the River Lea. It is a two minute walk to Hertford East train
station (direct trains to central London). The A10 is a two minute drive away and a further
twenty minutes to North London. Next to the train station is a 24hour Tesco.

The town centre is a pretty, five minute, walk along the tow-path where one can find a
Waitrose store; the Public Library; the Castle; a theatre; a leisure-centre; boutiques and
shops; excellent pubs and restaurants. There are NHS Dentists; Doctors’ Surgeries; and a
small General Hospital.

Opposite the mooring is a large park, situated over the bridge. This leads to woodland and a
nature reserve, which can also be reached by a short walk downriver. There are many nice
walks and this is a beautiful cruising area.

The marina has private parking, power, telephone line, Elsan point and rubbish disposal. Rent £210 per month.

The boat is a superb live-aboard with plenty of space, a spare room, washing machine etc. It is ready to move into and easily commutable to London ( Liverpool St approx 50 mins)

Canal Boats for Kids

Many people who buy narrowboats have their first experience of boating in Hire Boats. These are available in many shapes and sizes, all around the canal system.

It's a great way of finding out whether boating is for you and to discover the delights of the UK canals. It's also great fun for children, who can get involved in helping to run the boat and man the locks from a very early age.

However, for some of the younger children, this is not enough to keep them occupied full time, or to allow the adults a bit of peace and quiet.

Oxfordshire Narrowboats have a novel answer. They have embodied the popular children's canal characters, Muddy Waters and Jolly in two of their boats. Muddy is a full size, eight berth holiday boat with a special children's playroom next to their bedroom Here they can play in safety, supervised by remote video camera.

Jolly is a day boat designed for children's parties decorated and equipped to  ensure that children can really enjoy an afternoon out with a famous cartoon boat.

Hopefully these boats will encourage even more families to buy there own boats. Boatshed Grand Union  is always ready with a selection of second hand family boats for sale and plenty of helpful advice.

Broker's Comments

Thinking of joining the Queen's Jubilee Flotilla on the Thames - well here is just the boat for it.

How do you describe a boat like this. Certainly pretty unique. I can find only one more similar example for sale and on more viewable on line but not for sale.

Thought to have been built by the Admiralty in 1919, she certainly does not show her age, except perhaps in her grace and style

She is definitely a beauty, wonderful lines, stunning wheelhouse, massive salon, which could seat 10. A useful galley and wonderful bedroom and toilet plus separate shower.

However it is the sheer looks of this boat that are such a joy. She would be superb on the coast or on the Thames. She would grace any historic collection and hold her head up in any classic company.

Yes, she needs some TLC but it would definitely be a labour of love.
